Greece located in Southern Europe, includes 6,000 islands and islets scattered in the Aegean and Ionian Seas, of which only 227 islands are inhabited. The climate of Greece is primarily Mediterranean, featuring mild, wet winters and hot, dry summers. Almost two-thirds of the Greek people live in urban areas, the biggest cities are Athens, Thessaloniki, Patra, Heraklion, Larissa, Volos, Rhodes, Ioannina, Chania, and Chalcis.
Greece is a developed country with an economy based on the service and industrial sectors, the main industries are tourism, shipping, industrial products, food and tobacco processing, textiles, chemicals, metal products, mining and petroleum. Shipping has traditionally been a key sector in the Greek economy since ancient times, ranked fourth in the world by number of ships, behind China, Japan, and Germany.
